One Receiver Who Really Stood Out to Me at the YAA Birmingham Camp: Christian Pritchard

When I was covering the You Are Athlete Camp in Birmingham on February 21st, there were a lot of talented players on the field. But one receiver who really caught my attention — even if he wasn’t the name everyone was talking about — was Muscle Shoals 2027 athlete Christian Pritchard.

Pritchard, who’s listed at 5’9”, 165 pounds and already holds offers from UT Martin and Samford, worked exclusively at wide receiver while I was watching drills and one-on-ones. What stood out immediately to me was his footwork. During cone work, he showed a very quick, sudden burst with his feet and was able to change direction without wasting movement. Everything looked controlled and efficient, which is something I always look for when evaluating receivers who win with quickness.

Once they moved into one-on-ones, he kept showing up. He ran smooth routes, but what I really liked was how physical he was in those routes. He didn’t shy away from contact and fought through defenders to create space. When the ball came his way, he handled traffic well and caught passes through contact, showing good concentration and toughness.

I know he also plays defensive back for Muscle Shoals, but from what I saw in Birmingham, his upside at receiver is real. He’s the kind of player that may not be getting a ton of buzz right now, but he’s someone I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on as the offseason camps continue.

Sometimes the guys who stand out to you end up being the ones who pop later. Christian Pritchard is one of those names for me.
