RaKaveon Goldsmith 2028 Quarterback Stands Out at You Are Athlete Camp in Birmingham

When I attended the You Are Athlete Camp in Birmingham on February 21st, there were plenty of talented players competing throughout the day. But one quarterback who really caught my attention was RaKaveon “Gold” Goldsmith, a 2028 quarterback now playing at Parker High School after previously being at Hoover.

Physically, Goldsmith already looks the part of a developing quarterback prospect. Listed at 6’1”, 190 pounds, he has a strong frame for his age and carries himself with a calm confidence during drills. From the moment quarterbacks started working through the early camp structure, it was clear he was comfortable operating within the flow of the workout.

During positional drills, his footwork stayed controlled and balanced, which allowed him to consistently get into clean throwing positions. His release looked smooth and efficient, and he repeated the same mechanics rep after rep. Consistency like that is something that always stands out to me when watching young quarterbacks develop.

As the camp moved into more competitive throwing sessions, RaKaveon Goldsmith, the 2028 quarterback, started flashing the ability to drive the football outside the numbers while still showing touch on intermediate throws. What I liked most was that he wasn’t simply trying to throw the ball hard. Instead, he was throwing with purpose, showing placement and timing that helped receivers make plays on the ball.

Another thing that stood out was his composure. Quarterback camps can be fast-paced and sometimes chaotic, but Goldsmith handled the day with good poise. When a rep wasn’t perfect, he quickly reset and moved on to the next throw. That type of mental approach is something coaches often value because it can translate directly to leadership on the field during games.

After the camp wrapped up, I reached out to Goldsmith to ask about his upcoming plans for the offseason. Like many young quarterbacks looking to gain exposure, he already has a busy summer schedule ahead. He told me he plans to attend camps at Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, UAB, and Tulane, along with several other opportunities to compete in front of college coaching staffs.

He also mentioned that he’s looking forward to attending camps at HBCU programs such as Alabama State, Jackson State, and other SWAC schools. That willingness to compete and get in front of different coaching staffs is an important step in the recruiting process, especially for younger prospects still building their recruiting profile.

Now that Goldsmith has made the move to Parker High School, he’ll be playing for a program with a strong football tradition in Alabama. Based on what I saw in Birmingham, RaKaveon Goldsmith, the 2028 quarterback, is definitely a name worth following as he continues to develop over the next few seasons.

Camps like the You Are Athlete event give players the opportunity to showcase their skills against other talent, and Goldsmith took advantage of that opportunity. As he continues to gain experience and exposure, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his name start to generate more attention in recruiting circles.
